GIFTS FOR STAFF December 6, 2009 Dear Fellow Owners and Tenants in the Lauren: We have a long tradition of voluntarily pooling our holiday gratuities to condo staff as the end of the year approaches. By combining our gifts, we make it easier for those to participate who might otherwise feel that their contribution would be too small. We also get to contribute to those on the staff whom most of us don't see, but who are still so deserving—those who serve in the middle of the night, or part-time on weekends. I think you will agree that we are most fortunate in having a loyal, hard working staff, some of whom have been with us for decades, who labor on a daily basis to maintain our comfort, satisfaction, and security. In fact, no contribution is too small (or too large). I know that this is a heck of a time to be soliciting contributions —for anything. But please contribute what you can, make your check out to “Lauren Holiday Fund,” and deliver it to the front desk, to the attention of Walter Krolman, our manager—or send it to Walter’s attention at the condo, if you are a nonresident owner. After the collection deadline of Monday, December 21, Walter will divide the collection among the staff—not including himself—based on the number of hours an employee serves us each week. (The condo board traditionally addresses the manager separately.) We will acknowledge your contribution by name—but not amount—in a list of donors delivered to the staff, owners, and tenants. If you want to remain anonymous, please indicate that with your payment, and we will honor your request. Please note: Like last year, there will be no extension of collections past Monday, December 21. In last year’s holiday season, you contributed a total of almost $7,000, with almost 90 percent participation. Please write your check by the deadline. In fact, why not do it right now, while you’re holding this letter? Thank you in advance for your participation in this program to honor our deserving staff. And best wishes to you for a happy holiday season.
