A Message from the Lauren President

November 26, 2006

Dear Fellow Residents and Owners:

Many of you know the long-established holiday tradition at the Lauren for us collectively to contribute to a gift fund for our loyal staff. Amazingly, it’s already that time of year.

Why did we start this tradition of a group collection, anyway?

  1. Most of us have demonstrated in the past that we want to acknowledge the hard work of our staff with a holiday gift.

  2. The number of staff makes it difficult for any one of us to make a meaningful gift to each staff member.

  3. By grouping our contributions, individual donations—large and small—add up to a healthy “pot” that the manager divides among the staff, in proportion to the hours that they work. (The condo board allocates the manager’s bonus; he does not share in the group collection.)

  4. Although larger gifts naturally boost the size of the collection, we are looking more for full participation. You need not be embarrassed by a small gift. Contributions large and small are truly welcome and will be deeply appreciated.

This is the one time of year that we collectively thank Cacho, Ruta, Henry, Salvador, Pedro, Isaac, Beri, Celestine, Letta, Thomas, and Hiskias. On a daily basis, they work to ensure the cleanliness, efficiency, management, and security of the building, making the Lauren, simply put, a wonderful place to live.

What’s the best way to make your gift?
• Please write a check.
• Leave it in an envelope at the front desk, “Attn: Manager Walter Krolman.
Make check out to “Lauren Condominium (Gift Fund).”
• Please make your donation no later than December 16.
• You will be acknowledged by name, but not by amount. If you wish to give anonymously, please indicate that in a note with your check.

Our deserving staff will be very grateful. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Roger B. Hirschland
President, Board of Directors
