As you have probably noticed the elevator car you are currently riding on has a tendency to make noise and/or experience an occasional bump as it traverses up and down the building.

Veteran residents of the building have certainly discerned that the type of noise and bumps has changed since work was recently performed in the elevator mechanical room.

This variance has happened because of adjustments made to the system of ropes on the equipment. According to the association's supervisory contact at Schindler Elevator Corporation, there is a work order in to actually replace the ropes. There is no life safety issue with the equipment as it is currently running (they would not have put it back in service if there was). As of this moment we do not have a definite date for the ropes to be replaced.
