Lauren Laundry EtiquetteIntroductionThe climate controlled Lauren laundry room is located on the garage level of the building. It is easily accessed by taking the elevator to the “G” level and then walking (almost) straight ahead. The facilities are open and available for use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: The room feature 10 credit or coin operated Maytag washers and 12 credit or coin operated Maytag stacked dryers. Within the confines of the room a coin operated detergent dispenser and Pepsi-Cola soda vending machine may also be found. For the added convenience of patrons two folding tables are available for use. Needed MoniesBoth the washers and the dryers cost $1.00 per load. Please see the accompanying letter for further information on credit card/’wash card” usage. Please note that all residents were originally provided a “wash card” when the system went into operation. If your predecessor in the apartment did not leave you such a card one may be purchased for five dollars ($5.00). Coin slots will accept four (4) quarters. Please remember to insert your change in the correct coin slot and then activate the correct machine (especially on the dryers where one coin slot services both an upper and a lower machine). The detergent dispenser costs fifty cents ($.50) per item, and also uses quarters. Sodas are sixty five cents ($65) each. The soda machine will accept nickels, dimes, quarters and will also make change for dollar bills. Please use United States currency only in all equipment. Canadian quarters and the like may jam the coin slots, and either damage or place the equipment out of order. General OperationPlease read and abide by the instructions located on the washers and dryers so as to obtain optimum results. The approximate time of a wash is thirty (30) minutes and a dollar buys you one hour of drying time. EtiquetteMany Lauren residents have limited time available to do their wash. Please extend common courtesy to your neighbors by: 1) Limiting the number of machines you use, especially in prime time hours, 2) Removing your laundry from the washer/dryer as soon as the cycle is completed (30 minutes for wash, 60 minutes for dry), 3) Folding your clothes promptly, and then clearing them from the table, 4) If by mistake you open the wrong dryer to check progress, please close the door and restart the machine, 5) Clean the lint filter for dryers after each use. MalfunctionsIf you have difficulty with any piece of equipment, such as a machine not starting or the wrong water temperature being supplied please place an out of order sign on the unit. Please report the problem to the front desk, including the machine number and the nature of the malfunction. As appropriate, Lauren management will issue a refund of monies lost. The Lauren has a maintenance service contract for the repair of washers and dryers. |
