-IMPORTANT HEATING UPDATE-As previously mentioned in the association wide letters of October 18, 2002 and October 31, 2002 The Lauren's Board of Directors has authorized our service provider, G&L Mechanical, to perform an extensive replacement project relating to the HVAC (Heating, Venting, Air Conditioning) central system. The exact nature of repairs were detailed in the prior letters. The most significant impact of these repairs is that heat is not available until they are completed. This approximate two week undertaking was estimated to progress in a fashion that predicted completion on or about November 8, 2002. We are happy to report that by late afternoon on the 8th all valves and pipes had been indeed replaced. HOWEVER, the necessary precaution of hydrostatic testing of the repairs to observe and correct any leaks has not yet taken place. After consultation with, and by the direction of, the President of the Lauren's Board of Directors G&L was instructed to return on Monday November 11, 2002 to fill the system, perform tests as necessary, and activate the boilers for heating purposes once the integrity of the system is assured. As those residents on the 10th floor, who currently have holes cut in their ceiling, realize there are still other additional aspects to this project. These include the original water balancing that was contracted for, the reinsulation of the pipes, and the restoration of apartments to their original condition. We will be meeting with residents of the 10th floor shortly to review the time frame and restoration components of this major undertaking. THANK YOU! |
