FROM THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN JIM GRAHAM....

Presumably this applies to Ward 2 as well; contact the DC Council for more information.

Dear Friends:

In the ongoing issue about the new restrictions resulting from redistricting the wards, the Council yesterday suspended the new restrictions until October 1, 2002. This is to permit the new one block buffer zone to be put into place.  Thus, if you have had a change in your ward designation as a result of redistricting (such as Kalorama/Adams Morgan, U Street) and you have a residential parking permit for Zone One, you can continue to park in those neighborhoods which have changed to Zone Two (Sheridan Kalorama; south of U and west of 14th Street) even though they have signs limiting residential parking to Zone Two.

If you get a ticket on the zone basis, let me know. It will be voided.

So, for example, what this means is that persons with Zone One stickers can park anywhere in Sheridan Kalorama without regard to the Zone Two restrictions until October 1, 2002, when hopefully the new one block buffer area signs will be in place.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a Happy Fourth of July!

Bests Jim Graham, Ward One Councilmember
