RE: Laundry Room and Credit Cards
DATE: August 25, 2000

The Lauren is proud to announce that effective immediately credit cards (Master Card and Visa only) may be used to pay for washer/dryer usage. There are a few important operating details that you should familiarize yourself with before using credit cards.

1. Please pick up a “wash card” at the front desk. This is a blue and white card provided by our laundry service Caldwell & Gregory. You must sign for the card. One card is being given to each unit free of charge. Additional cards may be purchased for five ($5) dollars each.

2. In the laundry room, on the wall adjacent to the soda machine are two (2) controls. Prior to using the wash card for the first time you must put money on it. This is accomplished by using the rectangular “account to card” machine. The following is a step-by-step summary of the instructions you will be asked to follow.

  • Insert your Master Card or Visa Card where prompted to “swipe card” (right hand side of machine).

  • Hit “credit”.

  • Insert the wash card in the laundry card reader (lower left side of machine). It will read the amount of money stored on the card, which initially will be zero ($0).

  • Punch in the desired amount of purchase on the keypad. The system is set up to accept purchases between ten and one hundred dollars ($10-$100).

  • Hit “enter”. The machine will then dial in, be connected, transmit, and receive.

  • Be sure to take your receipt, after it is printed. Printer is on lower right side.

3. Now that your wash card has money stored on it laundry equipment may be activated. Go to the other control (the square box to the left of the account to card machine). Instructions for usage are clearly printed on this machine. Be sure to enter the correct two digit machine number (each washer and dryer has a number) for the machines you want to use. Also, be sure to press start. Repeat for additional machines being used. System will not allow you to activate a machine that is already in
use.

4. As the last step go to the washer/dryer you are using (the numbers you just programmed in step 3) and start as normal. Be sure to put on the setting you desire. On the dryers it is especially important that you activate the machine corresponding to the number (double check to see if it is a top or bottom unit) you inserted previously.

You may, of course, continue to use quarters! If there are any questions (or problems) please put them in writing (with as much specific detail as possible) and leave to my attention at the front desk.
