RE: Common Sense Security
Date: 12/4/92 (Original Release). Revised 3/3/96 and 8/25/97 and 02/10/03 and 02/01/06
Security in our building is the responsibility of all owners and residents. A few common sense rules will help protect us all

* Do not allow someone to follow you into the building. It may seem rude to close the door on someone, but it is essential to protect us all. Garage users should exercise similar precautions.

* Please do not prop open the basement and side doors. Close these doors if you find them open.

* Report any suspicious activities or persons to the front desk.

* Call 911 if you think there is an emergency or crime taking place.

* Introduce yourself to the desk personnel. Between 500PM and 800AM on weekdays, desk personnel will NOT buzz in anyone they do not know. On Saturday and Sunday no unknown persons will be buzzed in at any time.

* Remind your visitors and food delivery persons (yes, including the PIZZA person) that you must buzz them into the building. Again, after 500PM on weekdays desk personnel will not buzz in anyone who is not an owner or resident.

* Desk personnel will NOT give keys to non residents or non-owners without written authorization. While desk personnel will NOT honor phone or verbal requests to release keys, residents may request the Manager to give out keys in case of emergency.

* It isn't fair for visitors (or residents) to give desk personnel a hard time as they enforce these policies.

* During the day (800AM-500PM on weekdays) to accommodate the limited number of professional offices in the building, the admittance policies are more relaxed. Professionals may ask the desk to admit visitors if the visitor gives the unit number they are visiting.

* If, unfortunately, you are the victim of any crime, it is important that you let the Board and the Property Manager know. Please fill out an "incident report" at the front desk or send a memo to the Board and/or the Property Manager.

* The association will post notice of any criminal activity in the area that it receives by the front desk and on the laundry room bulletin board for 3 days. This will include pictures of alleged perpetrators if available.

* Remember to lock the door to your home, especially when you are leaving (even if only to go to the desk to pick up your mail). Consider locking the door at all times you are inside your apartment

Please let the manager or the Board know if a visitor is admitted to the building without being buzzed in by you during the restricted entry period noted above.
