Bird-watchers and fans of our national symbol, take note. On Saturday, March 12, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge will hold its 11th Annual Eagle Festival. The day starts with a two-hour bird walk, with several eagle prowls scheduled into the morning and afternoon. Other activities include a photography workshop and up-close programs with owls and birds of prey. Children can make an eagle puppet, design a wildlife T-shirt and more. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and activities are free, although people interested in the eagle prowls are encouraged to register the day of the event due to limited space.
