Street Closures for Chinese New Year
Sunday, February 21, 2010


(Washington, D.C.) – The Metropolitan Police Department has provided the following information regarding street closures and parking restrictions for the Year of the Tiger Chinese New Year Parade on Sunday, February 21, 2010.

DATE: Sunday, February 21, 2010

TIME: 2:00 pm

LOCATION: Assembling on I Street, between 5th and 6th Streets, NW

ROUTE: The parade will form in the 500 block of I Street, NW and will proceed westbound on I Street, NW to 7th Street, NW, southbound on 7th Street, NW, to H Street, NW, westbound on H Street, NW, to 8th Street, NW, southbound on 8th Street, NW, to G Street, NW, eastbound on G Street, NW, to 7th Street, NW, northbound on 7th Street, NW, to H Street, NW, eastbound on H Street, NW, where parade will disband in the 600 block of H Street, NW.

No vehicles will be allowed to park on the parade route commencing at 7 am on Sunday, February, 21, 2010.

Street Closures and Times

The following street closures will begin at 9 am on Sunday, February 21:

• H Street, NW, between 6th and 7th Streets (9 am until 5 pm)
• I Street, NW, between 5th and 7th Streets (9 am until 3:30 pm)
• 7th Street, NW, between Massachusetts Avenue and G Street
(1:30 pm until 3:30 pm)
• G Street, NW, between 7th and 9th Streets (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm))
• 8th Street, NW, between G and H Streets (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm))
• H Street, NW, between 8th and 6th Streets (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm))
• 6th Streets, NW, between Massachusetts Avenue and G Street (1:30 pm until 3:30 pm)

All street closures are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

Motorists could encounter possible delays in the vicinity of these events and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also remind drivers in the area to use caution as increased pedestrian traffic is expected.
