“With the opening of the Southwest Service Center, the DMV is now conveniently located in each quadrant of the District making services more readily available to our residents and customers,” said Lucinda Babers, DMV Acting Director. The opening follows an extensive two-year renovation of the former United Way building the District purchased. The new 38,000 square foot facility will roll out state-of-the-art driver knowledge testing equipment in multiple languages in the fall of 2007, and is disability accessible. The site has enhanced landscaping that utilizes an environmental storm water system which includes rain gardens. The environmental system is a partnership between the DMV and the Casey Trees Endowment Fund.

The Southwest Service Center is located around the corner from the DMV Southwest Vehicle Inspection Station and is accessible by the Metro Green Line (Navy Yard and Waterfront SEU Metro stops), Metrobus and the DC Circulator.
