A BOARD MEMBER'S JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Take adequate time to review management and financial reports before
each meeting.
2. Attend all Board meetings and participate, actively and constructively.
3. Make your views known to the Board, and, when necessary, disagree,
politely.
4. Interact with other Board members and with residents in a civil and
considerate manner.
5. In Board business and decisions, act only in the best interest of the
association as a whole.
6. Support the Board's decisions, even when decisions run counter to your
own wishes.
7. Do not do anything that is not a Board member responsibility under the
Bylaws.
8. Maintain a positive attitude and set an example for other residents.
9. Never disclose confidential information acquired while serving on the
Board.
10. If any of the above duties cannot be fulfilled completely, resign from
the Board.
Footnote - Serving on a Board of Directors is a serious legal
responsibility. Of the duties listed above, #4 and #8 are important for
maintaining respect for the individual Board member, and for maintaining
the credibility and effectiveness of the association as a whole. ALL OF
THE REST are required to fulfill the Board member's legal role. Failure to
fulfill these duties may result in legal action against the Board member
and the association. |
