Dear Fellow Owners at the Lauren:
Our annual meeting is coming up on Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m. We'll gather in the usual place, in a meeting room at the Marriott Hotel on 22nd Street, just north of M Street. You know the drill, so I probably don't have to dwell on it. This is the one time each year when owners get together to vote in their board of directors and to air any issues, grievances, concerns, or compliments to the board and to each other. We will also review events and developments over the past year and look to the future, examining what projects we can expect. The meeting should be interesting, and it's fun to see each other (or meet for the first time). It's also important to the continued smooth functioning of our condo. We are bound by the bylaws to meet, and the board is required to inform you of this meeting by mail. Please note that if not enough owners attend, either in person or by proxy, we will not have a quorum. That means, we would have to rent the room and go through the entire mailing process again. That expense would come out of our condo fees. If you cannot attend, then please promptly sign the enclosed proxy (having your signature witnessed) and then designate the proxy to a current board member and leave it at the front desk, mail it to a board member, or designate someone else you know will attend and deliver it to that person. We'll go over our financial situation, plans for redecoration, capital improvements to our heating plant, changes in our investment procedures, and other issues of concern, including smoking in the building. And, by the way, our brand-new garage door works beautifully. (It has its ups and downs). Hoping to see you at the Marriott on May 12. Cordially
